The Project
As part of the HRE Framework, Balfour Beatty appointed CK Contracts to carry out works to a range of structures throughout Scotland, including a long running project in Greenock.
Scope of Works
Works on this project include brickwork, replacement of defective sandstone, concrete repairs, masonry repairs.
Challenges & Solutions
- Challenge: One of the main challenges on this project was gaining access to these historic structures, particularly for large items of plant, due to dense vegetation.
- Solution: CK Contracts, under instruction from Balfour Beatty, installed an access road to allow safe passage for people/plant.
- Impact: All works progressed to plan and budget.
Results & Outcome
Over 30,000 worked with zero lost-time incidents and client feedback which has been very positive with respect to on time delivery and to a high quality standard.
Conclusion & Client Feedback
CK Contracts have worked closely with Balfour Beatty for over 10 years and are proud to be a framework contractor involved in helping preserve and restore these historic structures.
This has been evident in the continuation of works to ongoing schemes across this programme of works
